Taro Patch Excursion Destination
This program provides a field trip destination to our wetland taro patch for our island and world wide public, private, and homeschool organizations. Students learn about the land division called the ahupua'a, which is the sustainable system used by native people of Hawai'i, as well as the wetland habitat of the native birds, such as the 'Alae 'Ula and the Ae'o. They also learn about the plant kalo and participate in Hawaiian games and crafts.
